Testing will take place at the end of each lesson and each unit. Testing will be both formative and summative. However, the type of tests will vary, such as traditional tests, projects, lab reports, written or oral reports, and summaries.
Students will be able to make corrections on test for 75% credit. For example, if a students earn 12/20 on a test. The student can correct the eight questions missed and earn up to six points. Open book tests may not be corrected.
Spelling pretests will be given on Mondays and posttests will be on Fridays. The posttests will be over ONLY the words that the students missed on the pretest and at least of the challenge words. Students are required to test on 5 of the 8 challenge words, but may test on more than five to earn extra credit! (Spelling lists are available online under the "Links" tab of this webpage.)
Etymology tests will be given on Wednesdays every two weeks. Students will learn 5 new prefixes, suffixes or root words every two weeks. These tests will be cumulative and require students to match prefixes, suffixes or root words to their meanings, as well as require them to define unknown words based on their etymology knowledge.
