A Lot of Snow (or Cold) + Home Sweet Home + Pajamas = E-Learning!!!
E-learning has been an option for schools for awhile now. Thus, I have learned A LOT more about technology that will allow this experience to be educational and hopefully fun! I have chosen to approach e-learning through the lens of a project based learning model. This means that the students will be completing lessons that use varying learning styles – reading, listening, doing, investigating, and writing. It also means that the lessons are cross-curricular. I previewed the lessons with the students, and they seem excited about the activities!
The delivery method for the lessons is my website (staugustine4.weebly.com). There you will find an “E-learning” tab under the “Parent Info” tab. The “E-learning” tab has sub-tabs for the three days of e-learning that I have already planned. I have included directions under each subject to guide students through their work. The most important thing for you to know is that anything in red is a link to an online article, video, or a document. The documents have more detailed directions as well. Students have been using this method to access such items throughout the school year, so do not be concerned! They are quite versed at manipulating my website and the apps!
Though the lessons are designed to take an average of two hours, know that I will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. if you need any assistance or clarification on the assignments! You may email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 219-819-6809. I encourage you to allow the students to take some brain breaks – aka recesses – just as if they were at school.
Once e-learning is completed, I need you (or the adult who will care for your kiddos on these days) to complete the verification form that is in the e-learning folder. Please send the verification form to school with the students no later than two days after we return to school. Within the folder, I have also included a list of website addresses and your student’s usernames and passwords. On my website, I also have a “Links” tab that has all the websites listed; again, the students are familiar with this page. Completed assignments are due no later than two days after we return to school.
Have a blessed day! Mrs. Nagel
