Reading/Language Arts/Science/Social Studies ~90 to 100 minutes 1. Go to Readworks and complete the "Exploring Natural Places" paired text lesson. The class code is RW2D5Q and the password is 1234. 2. Go to 360cities.net and search Carlsbad Caverns. Virtually explore the caverns!!! 3. Watch this video about he bat swarm at Carlsbad Caverns. 4. Now create a informational pamphlet, an informational video or Google slideshow about the Mexican Free Tailed Bat and Carlsbad Caverns. Regardless of how you choose to put the information together, you must include all of the following information. *Where are the Carlsbad Caverns? (Include a picture of a map.) *How were the caverns formed? *Describe what the caverns look like using descriptive language. *Provide basic facts about the Mexican Free Tailed Bat, like what they eat, how long they live, what they look like (include pics). You will have to use a Google search to locate these facts. *Approximately how many bats emerge from the Cavern during a swarm? *Approximately how long does it take for the bats to emerge? *Include a vocabulary section which includes at least 5 words that were unfamiliar to you prior to your reading and research.
Math ~ 20 minutes -Watch Adding with Like Denominators Video -I added a fraction chart at the bottom of this page to help you calculate half and double amounts of this recipe! -Half and then double the ingredients on the recipe below. You will need to write each ingredient on the PB Cookies Math Sheet, which you need to download into Notability. There is space on the PB Cookies Math Sheet for you to show your work, even your mental math steps.
