DAY 2 When you are completing your work today, please be certain that you are answering with complete sentences, using proper grammar/punctuation and answering ALL PARTS of the questions. Check for capitalization, end marks, and re-read your answers before sending them to me! Reading/Language Arts/Science ~ 60 minutes -Upload the What is a Gene? article in Notability and then read the article with an adult. -After reading each section, turn to whom you are reading and summarize the article for them. Talk to your parent or grandparent about dominant and recessive traits in your family. Are there things you do that are similar to a parent, grandparent, or sibling? Are there things that you do that are unique to just you?
-Once you have read and discussed the article, highlight the bolded vocabulary words and the context clues (sentence or phrase) that define them for you. -After reading and discussing the "What is a Gene?" article and the above questions, research your favorite pure breed animal, such as a collie, a German shepherd; or research your favorite pure breed farm animal, such as a Berkshire pig, a Guernsey cow, or a Blue Texel sheep.
-Write a one-page, double-spaced expository essay that explains what you think are the dominant traits in that breed. Be sure to use some of the vocabulary from the article and your research in your essay.
Your essay will also be graded for spelling, capitalization, punctation and grammar, so be sure to proofread your paragraph before turning it in. I will also be looking for facts about the animal that you chose to research. (You can write your paragraph in Google Docs or go old school and use paper :-).
